Dalarna is in central Sweden - the name itself means ‘the valleys’, and extends from misty mountains to rolling farmland. Here you can find immersive forests; waterfalls; and lakes – unspoiled nature at its finest. The table is located in Kloster, amidst the 15th century ruins of a Cistercian monastery next to a flowing stream. Within 2 hours by car from Stockholm and 20km from the town of Hedemora.

Eating in Swedish nature. Swedish forests are filled with edible treats such as berries, mushroom, nettles and other greens, and they are of course best enjoyed in the outdoors.

Get the full experience of the wild with our add-ons

While foraging and cooking in nature is fun, it can also be a bit of a challenge. For a truly fulfilling experience, we recommend you book an add-on. A local foraging guide, a professional chef or a comfortable accommodation nearby will make your visit all the more memorable.

Dalarna

Besides the fine DIY dining at The Edible Country, the region is rich in nature to explore: kayaking and canoeing on the glittering Lake of Orsa; extensive cycle tours tailored along 900km of marked trails through wilderness, mountains and towns. Hiking paths through the moorland and mountains of Fulufjället National Park where you can also visit Sweden’s oldest tree, Old Tjikko, and the country’s highest waterfall. Visit the guide Taste of Dalarna to find out more about local food and beverage producers, restaurants, cafes and farm shops.
